IACSD
The IACSD defines standards for the provision of conscious sedation in dentistry. Please refer to the 'Standards for Conscious Sedation in the Provision of Dental Care. Report of the Intercollegiate Advisory Committee for Sedation in Dentistry' April 2015, This is the most recent guidance and often referred to as the IACSD Report. Available for download at http://www.saad.org.uk/images/Linked-IACSD-2015.pdf
The IACSD can, on receipt of a satisfactory application, approve clinical supervisors for ‘New Starter’ sedationists and DCPs who are not receiving training associated with a university or postgraduate dental deanery.
Approval is based on the information you provide to SAAD, and SAAD is not responsible for the supervision provided. Approval of a supervisor by SAAD does not entitle either the supervisor or supervisee to use the logos of SAAD or IACSD.
SAAD will not be liable for damages of any sort that may result from decisions taken by practitioners following supervision by an approved clinical supervisor for dental sedation. Supervisees who have concerns relating to any aspects of the supervision provided by an approved clinical supervisor should make the IACSD aware of these concerns.
